Mission: Analyzes benefit options.  Develops, implements and administers the company’s benefits and leave programs.  Keeps employees informed of these options, and resolves employee issues that may arise regarding benefit policies and procedures. They also ensure that the organization's benefits comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements.

Position Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (in business, human resources or related field) from a four-year college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
  • Working knowledge of ADP Workforcenow.adp.com 
  • Efficient in Excel
  • Group insurance background a plus

Skills/Knowledge/Ability:

The Benefits Managers plans and manage the overall design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization's health and welfare benefits programs. Ensures that programs adhere to current regulations and supports the organization's strategic objectives.

The Benefits Manager evaluates current programs to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and competitiveness with other organizations. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Benchmarking current benefits against competitors when requested
  • Liaising with employees to understand benefit needs
  • Working with brokers and leadership to create a benefits strategy
  • Implementing the benefits program
  • Be available to senior managers on benefits issues and opportunities
  • Negotiating with benefits providers
  • Prepare monthly carrier invoices
  • Acting as a retirement plan fiduciary
  • Collaborate with benefits vendors, brokers, and consultants to make sure the company’s benefits programs are competitive
  • Collaborate with others to develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy for benefits programs and identify opportunities to improve employee participation and engagement; facilitate proactive and effective messaging to educate employees about benefits 
  • Oversee leave of absence and workers comp insurance compliance 
  • Responsible for the interactive process of requests for accommodation including the return-to-work process, ensuring consistency and compliance with state and federal leave laws.

Act as lead for:

  • work comp program, IIPP, and safety committee
  • ACA reporting and 1095C review
  • 401(k) committee
  • Annual 401(k) audit
  • Leaves of absence

Authority:

  • Reports to VP of HR

Salary:

$80,000 – $120,000/ yr
