Mission: The Merchandise Planning Manager will help develop and execute strategic merchandise plans for their assigned categories to maximize sales and meet financial objectives through the analysis of sales trends, forecasts, and promotional activities. They will collaborate closely with their Sales partner to champion business objectives with their Target contacts.

Position Requirements
Education/Experience:
- 3-5 Years' experience in business analysis, promotional planning and retail merchandise planning
- Bachelor's degree. Preferred in Business Administration, Analytics
Skills/Knowledge/Ability:
- Knowledge in Target's business systems and procedures – POL, VIQ/Greenfield, IMN is preferred
- Advanced knowledge in Windows PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Background in Seasonal or Fashion categories preferred
- Analytical ability to translate complex data into concise business issues/opportunities
- Self-Motivated individual with the ability to sustain a consistent High Level of service across all relevant departments
- Collaborate across internal cross functional teams and utilize resources to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Effectively communicate amongst multiple cross functional teams internally and client facing
Good organizational skills and detail oriented
-Ability to forecast based on current or historical POS trends
Authority:
- Reports to Director of Sales
Key Result Areas and Activities
Business Analysis
- Weekly deep dive into Target’s key metrics to identify what is working/not working. Uses key insights to partner with sales on the development of future action plans
- Participate in the MGA & Target Joint Business Planning Process (JBP)
- Work with Inventory Management to solve inventory availability issues
Merchandise/Promotional Strategy and Execution
- Promotional tracking, analysis, and recapping
- Manage high impact programs – Out of Aisle assets, catalogs, circulars
- Identify marketing opportunities and submit promotional recommendations
- Sales uses these insights as guidance to optimize future promotional planning
Relationship Management
- Foster a good/productive working relationship with Target key contacts and communicate with them on a weekly basis
- Work closely with MGA internal cross functional areas
- Support in any project assigned by Team Lead
