SUMMARY: Combines strong design knowledge and organization skills to ensure quality, cost, schedule, and overall product development design of MGA Entertainment brands, while working alongside the Hong Kong team, China factories, LA Prelim Design, and LA Engineers.

POSITION REQUIRMENTS: 

• 2+ years of Toy Design Experience. Preferable fashion doll development experience.
• Toy or consumer good experience.
• Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership to drive innovative yet cost-effective design solutions.
• Experience working with/managing creative and engineering professionals both within and outside the company.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands.
• Demonstrates a “hands-on” team approach to solving problems.
• Potential travel to Hong Kong or China for onsite product approvals.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY:

• Knows all aspects of product design and development.
• Computer skills in the following applications: Photoshop and/or Illustrator.
• 3D modeling (Rhino, Solidworks, Freeform) a plus. 
• Understanding of softgoods materials (fabrics, swatch packets, etc) a plus.
• Knows how to take existing product and drive down cost and guarantee quality and durability.
• Good understanding of all aspects of manufacturing and operations.
• Excellent analytical skills – good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to take direction and execute feedback from Supervisor. 
• Strong organizational skills – time management skills and able to meet deadlines a must.
• Responsible for product approvals including overlays.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

Product Development Design:

• Partner with Development & Marketing & Asia partners to ensure product manufacturability and adherence to cost/profit margin goals.
• Establish a Design and Development system for all product reviews and approvals.
• Provide upfront quality assurance input for all products.
• Manage day-to-day product execution with HK production team.
• Establish design and development budgets and manage these budgets accordingly.
• Meet all product development key milestone dates.
• Provide QA and manufacturing support for the product.
• Work closely with the Hong Kong office to ensure production start dates occur and product start issues are minimized.
• Provide complete product specs to the factories that meet 100% manufacturing reliability.

Manufacturing:

• Continually research new technologies and manufacturing advances.
• Provide QA and manufacturing support for the product.
• Work closely with the Hong Kong office to ensure production start dates occur and product start issues are minimized.
• Provide complete product specs to the factories that meet 100% manufacturing reliability.

Other:

• Perform other duties as the job requires.

SALARY:

$70,000 – $85,000 /yr
