Mission:  The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development and execution of organization's global marketing and branded initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CMO's primary responsibility is to generate revenue by driving consumer demand and increasing sales through successful marketing strategies, campaigns, and execution, using market research, brand, digital and product marketing, social media, paid advertising, experiential marketing, partnerships, and public relations.

Key Result Areas and Activities:

Brand and Marketing Strategy

  • Act as thought-leader and change-agent for all MGA Entertainment brands globally, including: all aspects of branding, public image; marketing and media strategy; external communications; public and industry relations and policy; media relations; sales campaigns, and marketing metrics. 
  • Own positioning, messaging, branding, segmentation, and marketing strategy. 
  • In collaboration with sales continuously refine comprehensive go-to-market plan across multiple geos, channels, and market segments. 
  • Guide development of premium content and engaging presentations to highlight MGA Entertainment’s innovative value proposition and industry insights. 

Global POS

  • Monitor global POS, in particular US POS (versus ship/ forecast) in partnership with cross-functional leaders
  • Build action plans to respond to POS results that may need to be regionalized by territory
  • Track competitor POS (and branding/ marketing plans) and be ready to respond to pulse MGA POS


Media and Social Strategy and Execution


  • Build and execute a paid and earned media strategy that drives visibility to brands and influences and drive consumer demand. 


Digital Marketing Strategy 


  • Set the strategic vision for the digital landscape and bridge that to current business opportunities for new and existing brands. 

  • Lead the strategy of digital content initiatives to drive customer engagement and MGAE brand amplification across a wide range of channels using highly unique tactics to deliver maximum brand exposure while working with local, national, and international players.


Product Development Guidance


  • Collaborate with Product Development to ensure MGA is developing new products that can be positioned in market to drive growth and create incremental opportunities 


Market Research Strategy


  • Strategically drive, plan, direct, and lead the analyses and reporting of research enterprise-wide including all product research, advertising research and external consumer, marketplace, and retailer research. 

  • Direct the development of consumer insights and market knowledge to support the overall company mission and vision.

  • Understand the marketplace, the competitive set, and the white space opportunities to drive incremental growth in the brands. 

Position Requirements


  1. Proven record of success in building marketing programs to drive consumer demand for entertainment franchises, product lines and brands. 
  2. Proven success in marketing execution – television as well as digital. 
  3. Experience in youth marketing and marketing to millennials preferred. 
  4. Demonstrated experience creating winning brands in a competitive marketplace. 
  5. Strong understanding and experience in product development. 
  6. Pertinent experience working with international markets. 
  7. Strong analytical skills to monitor global POS and influencer forecasting in partnership with cross functional leaders
  8. Experience conducting competitive intelligence
  9. Leadership in a collaborative work environment. 
  10. Management of cross-functional teams and global teams that are spread out geographically
  11. Development of marketing strategies/competitive analyses/entertainment. 
  12. General management – especially ownership of marketing budgets. 
  13. Launching new brands/turnaround of mature brands. 
  14. Presenting/selling to retailers. 
  15. Management of research to produce consumer insights, and brand growth drivers.
  16. Direction of marketing websites. 
  17. Familiarity with an entrepreneurial environment. 
  18. Experience driving marketing for products as licensor. 
  19. Experience in winning and managing licensed IP as a licensee
  20. Bachelor’s degree. Top-school MBA is preferred. 
  21. 3 + years’ marketing to children. 
  22. Minimum of 5 years working as an executive in the Toy Industry preferred. 
  23. 15 + years’ marketing experience with recent and significant experience in a marketing leadership role for fast paced consumer brands.
